Hey USA fans! Things are getting interesting over here… we just finished out pool play this morning and came out on top in our pool by defeating Germany, 65-53. It was a hard fought battle as we knew it would be. The game was super physical and I have a bruise on my FACE to prove it! Our team proved today that we are very mentally tough. Calls weren’t going the way we wanted and at one point late in the game we only lead the Germans by 2 points. I am very proud of the way we came together today, this was definitely the team win we needed at this point in the tourney.
We beat China on Saturday, 81-40. And yesterday we had the day off except for an evening video session and light practice. Prior to that, we didn’t do much but watch basketball. Pool A on the women’s side was so up in the air until today, we just had to get in and watch some of the games. The Dutch were upset by Mexico, which was all the buzz on Saturday. And then yesterday they turned around and beat the Aussies! The Aussies then beat Canada who were undefeated until today. It’s crazy!
Tomorrow is the the World Congress for the IWBF so there are no games. Everyone gets a well deserved day off and we might go do a little sight-seeing/shopping. Tonight, however, our team leader “Details” scored us some tickets to the Robert Cray concert. He’s a blues musician and I’ve never really heard of him, but I have to say I am pretty pumped for the show. Live music is always something I look forward to.
Wednesday we will face GB in the cross over; they finished with a win over Mexico to put them into the 4th spot in their pool. It should be another good game for us. Again check out the tournament website for team stats and full crossover matchups. Go USA!!!!
