Hey There! Welcome back to my blog for those of you who followed along in Beijing. For those of you who didn't, I hope you enjoy your time here. I just thought I would get this thing up and running again to keep all of you posted on how we're doing over in England.
Our trip is right around the corner; we actually leave on Wednesday. I can't believe it's been almost two years already since we last embarked on a journey like this one. Man, time flies!! I am really excited to get another opportunity to compete at the IWBF wheelchair basketball world championships. This time, though, the outcome is going to GOLDEN! As many of you know, this will be my fourth worlds (competed in 1998, 2002 & 2006) and I have a silver medal for each one to prove it...actually, don't ask me to show you those, it seems I have "misplaced" those medals. It's not that I'm a sore loser or anything, it's just that silver means you LOST the gold in a TEAM sport. It's completely different for an individual sport, so all you team players out there know what I'm talking about. Plus, I like winning...
So anyway, like I said, we leave on Wednesday (8pm MST, to be exact. Arriving in London on Thursday and busing to Birmingham) and our team is looking very strong this year. We had tryouts in April, two competitions in May (with a 2nd place and 1st place finish), and most recently (like last weekend recently) we had our final training camp in NC. Big props to Coach Kiley and his crew for setting that up. It was a great time both on and off the court. Each time we get a chance to be together on the court it seems we get stronger. It's really an awesome thing to have 12 women come together to make things happen. I love my teammates! I am going to try my hardest to keep you all up to date through this blog. I posted some websites on here in case I happen to slip :)
Alright, so that about it for now... GO USA!!!!
